Block Island Guide

Head to the Beach

We love spending the day at Scotch Beach or Mansion Beach. If you're looking for something more lively, Ballard's Beach Club has food and drink service, live music, and beach chair rentals right on the sand.

Explore the Island

Rent a bike (or moped) in town, sign up for a tennis court at Ball O'Brien Park, rent a kayak, or take a hike on one of Block Island's scenic trails.

Spend Time in Town

Bop around Old Harbor, find some live music and a cocktail, browse local shops, and enjoy fresh seafood and island favorites. We'll share all of our favorite spots with you.

Relax!

Island Information

How do I get to Block Island? When should I arrive?

We hope you'll make a weekend of it! Our festivities will officially kick-off at the welcome party Friday night, but are planning some hikes and beach days for those arriving earlier.

The island is accessible by ferry from Rhode Island, Montauk, and Connecticut. We recommend booking ferry reservations as early as possible, when they open in January.

Where should I stay?

Spring House Hotel: Rooms for our guests will be available at a discounted rate on a first-come, first-served basis, so we encourage you to book early to secure your stay.

We hope to add an additional room block when hotels open for booking this fall!

Places to Stay

Should I bring a car?

It's totally up to you!

Block Island is only 7 miles long and 3 miles wide, so it's easy to get around without a car. There are plenty of taxis, bike and moped rentals, golf cart rentals, and even Mokes available, making it easy to explore the island.

If you do decide to bring your car, keep in mind that the only ferry that accommodates vehicles is the traditional ferry departing from Point Judith, Rhode Island. This ferry is 55 minutes. Vehicle reservations are limited, so we recommend booking as soon as reservations open in January. You'll also want to arrive at the ferry terminal at least one hour before departure if you're traveling with a vehicle.

If you decide to leave your car on the mainland, there are plenty of parking lots available near the ferry terminals. Many guests find it easier to park there and enjoy getting around the island without a car.

What should I do while I'm on the island?

We are putting together an island guide to help with some recommendations! We will share as the wedding approaches. Until then, our biggest recommendation is to take your shoes off and live a salty, island life with us for the weekend.

Will children be attending the wedding?

Our wedding festivities will be adults only. For guests traveling with children, the Kieltykas have personally used and highly recommend Block Island Babysitters for safe, and reliable childcare while you celebrate with us!
